Credits for courses on OccupationalTherapy.com are calculated according to the rules of the organizations that have approved us to sponsor the course. In most cases, credits are determined by the course's duration (run time).
Course duration or credit is measured differently by different entities. The “CEU” is the internationally recognized standard for continuing education and training, developed and overseen by the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). One (1.0) CEU is defined as 10 hours of participation in coursework. Therefore, a single hour of participation in a course is equal to 0.1 CEUs. Continued is accredited by IACET and is authorized to issue the IACET CEU.
Course length is reported differently by AOTA and NBCOT. AOTA uses the internationally recognized Continuing Education Unit (CEU) as the standard unit of measuring participation in a continuing education course. One (1.0) CEU is defined as 10 hours of participation in coursework. Therefore, a single hour of participation in a course is equal to 0.1 CEUs. NBCOT uses the Professional Development Unit (PDU) as an indicator of course length. One hour (0.1 CEUs) earned on our site is equivalent to 1.25 PDUs because OccupationalTherapy.com is an AOTA Approved Provider of continuing education with CE approved by AOTA, and our courses include an assessment component. PDUs can be converted using NBCOT’s conversion calculator. As a courtesy, the top of your OccupationalTherapy.com transcript converts your completed hours to PDUs as well. NBCOT is a registered trademark of The National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc.
